Who We Are

The Iberia Parish Parks and Recreation Department operates 16 parks throughout the parish, totaling almost 400 acres of green space available to the public. Organized competitive sports for both children and adults are available, including softball, baseball, soccer, football, swimming, basketball, volleyball and tennis.

The department oversees 32 ball fields (23 lighted), 28 lighted tennis courts, basketball courts, football fields and soccer fields, as well as playground equipment and numerous picnic and recreation areas.

In addition, many of the department’s recreation centers are available for rent for events like wedding receptions, parties, banquets, reunions and meetings.

The department’s operating budget comes from a ¼-cent parish sales and use tax, as well as income from facilities, concessions and programs. Additional funding comes from local agencies and the federal government.

The Iberia Parish Recreation and Playground Commission sets departmental policy and approves the yearly budget. The commission is composed of seven members, three appointed by the Iberia Parish Council, two by the City of Jeanerette, and one each by the town of Delcambre and the Village of Loreauville.

The Iberia Parish Parks and Recreation Department is certified by the Louisiana Recreation and Park Association, and the National Recreation and Park Association.
